Marine, structural and pipe work welding by Mike Foulkes. Twenty years on the tools, based in Gravesend, Kent. From a steel hull to a stainless spool, I bring the welder to the work.
Manual metal arc and TIG welding for marine, structural and pipe work jobs. Coded to the standard the job demands, from a hull plate to a hand-rail.
Manual metal arc welding to spec, on heavy steel, dirty steel and outdoor work where TIG can't keep up. Hand-blended root and cap.
Clean fusion TIG on stainless, mild steel and aluminium. For food-grade pipe, hygienic process and marine fit-out work.
Hull plates, bilge frames, over-plating, narrowboat refits and rebuilds. Built my own boat from scratch, now living on it in Gravesend.
Steel frames, RSJ work, columns and beams. Welded out on London builds and across the M25 corridor.
Spool fabrication, root and cap on carbon and stainless pipe. Process, riser, drainage and storm work for site teams.
Brackets, frames, hand-rails, plinths and one-off builds. Bring a drawing or a back-of-an-envelope sketch.
Mobile rig, generator, full PPE. Welding where the work is, from sites across London out to the Kent and Essex coast.
Cabin tops, plate repairs, fuel tanks, anti-pitting plating. Twenty years on the canals, a boat builder as well as a welder.

Mike's Mobile Arc Welding is a one-man outfit based in Gravesend, Kent. I cover the M25 and out across the South East, taking on marine, structural and pipe work jobs from coded site work to one-off fabrication.
The boat in the photo is mine. I built her from scratch over a few years, plate by plate, weld by weld. She floats, she runs, and she's where I live now, moored up in Gravesend. There's not much I haven't welded by this point.
"Mike welded up the bilge plating on my old hull at the yard. First class job, neat as anything and bone dry when she went back in. Knows boats and knows steel."
"Brought him in for some emergency structural work on a build off the M25. Drove up the same morning, welded out the column, signed off by the engineer no question."
"Mike fabricated the structural pillars and beams for our home extension. Welded perfect and square, primed and painted ready for the brickwork. Lovely man, fair price."
"Stainless process pipe job, hygienic spec. Spotless TIG, root and cap, x-ray passed first time. Will be calling Mike again for the next phase."
"Took my narrowboat in for cabin top repair plating and a bit of pitting work on the hull. Honest about what needed doing, didn't pad the job. Boat is sound again."
"Mike welded out our spool drawings without a word of fuss, on site, in the rain. Standard of work is in a different league. Site manager was over the moon."
Call Mike. He will tell you straight if it's a mobile job, a workshop job, or just not worth doing. No time wasted either way.
Not on the list? If it's inside the M25 or anywhere across the South East, Mike will travel for the right job.
